Introduction to Natural Science Pedagogy

Natural Science Education major is one of the four majors under the administration of  the Faculty of Natural Sciences Education, Saigon University. As a young major that was recently established in 2019 with the aim of meeting the requirements of innovating general education of the Ministry of Education and Training, this major is responsible for training bachelor students to become competent for teaching natural science subjects at Junior High Schools.

Besides, graduates are capable of maintaining positions such as officers type A1 (or equivalent) at public and private sectors such as: natural science teachers at Center for Continuing Education, Vocational centers; training assistants, laboratory specialists in natural science at institutions such as high schools, universities, research institutes; specialists at the Department of Education; advisor at companies that manufacture and trade teaching equipments. After graduation, learners can register for higher education related to Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Natural Science teaching theory.

The natural science subject is constructed and developed based on the foundation of natural sciences such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Earth Science. The research subjects of natural science are objects, phenomenons, processes, basic properties of existence, movement of the natural world. Thus, the Natural Science Education major is equipped with basic infrastructure and modern facilities which serve the needs of teaching, learning and researching and pedagogy methods.

As for lecturers, the Natural Science Education major has 1 management staff, 1 training assistant and 5 lecturers including 4 PhDs, 1 MAs. Besides, the major received the cooperation in teaching and scientific research from associate professors, PhDs, MAs majoring in the field of natural science from different natural science majors. 

Since the first enrollment course (academic year 2019-2020), with a class of 30 students, up to now, the whole major has had 3 classes with almost 100 students. The students always have a yearn for learning, enthusiastically partake in the movements and activities organized by the Youth Union – Students’ Association as well as community service activities in order to meet the requirements of society as committed by the major.
