Chemistry Teacher Education major is one of the four majors under the administration of the Faculty of Natural Sciences Education, Saigon University.  This major is assigned by Saigon University the task of training bachelor degree in Chemistry Teacher Education, master’s degree in Theoretical Chemistry and PhysicoChemical, doctoral degree in Organic Chemistry.

Ever since its establishment in 2007, Chemistry Teacher Education major has continuously developed the workforce as well as the size and forms of training. Since the first year of enrollment course in 2007 with just 01 class and approximately 40 university students, until the academic year of 2020-2021, the program has 134 students and 12 lecturers, including 04 associate professors, 05 PhDs, 1 postgraduate and 02 MAs.

The major started a master’s degree program from 2015; Theoretical Chemistry and PhysicoChemical from 2016; doctoral degree in Organic Chemistry from 2020. The facility of this major consists of 01 department room and 04 laboratories which serve the purpose of training and researching from lecturers as well as undergraduate and post-graduate students.

Regarding the current staff organization, Chemistry Teacher Education major takes great pride in the enthusiastic and experienced teaching staff both in education and scientific research including 04 associate professors, 05 PhDs, and 03 MAs. There are two sub-majors.

Associate professor Nguyễn Hữu Thọ is the head of Basic Chemistry sub-major. This sub-major is responsible for teaching the subjects related to pedagogical methods to students and pedagogical expertise to students both in and out of the major.

Dr. Nguyễn Thị Lan Hương is the head of Advanced Chemistry sub-major while Dr. Nguyễn Hữu Duy Khang is the deputy. This sub-major is responsible for teaching specialized courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level and promoting scientific research.
